Up There

Ray Vecchio steps out of the shadows and looks up at the lit, starkly uncovered window.

Sometimes it seems, when I walk around this dump,
As such a smoothly well-dressed man, I can't be such a chump.
But then, I sigh, 'cause it's here I have to stay,
I knew he was so pretty, but I didn't know that I was gay.

Up there, there's a small hard bed,
Where Benny lays down his lovely head.
Dressed like a cherry in his longjohns red --
Up there! Up where his Dief's asleep instead,
I could be loved and more, up there.

You say I must be straight,
I wear a Crucifix and all.
Because of my beliefs
I shouldn't know what "gay" means at all.

But what's a "homo" anyway?
I was married, I played the field.
But after just one Big-Eye Mountie Look
The alternative just appealed.

Up there, there's a small hard bed,
Where Benny lays down his lovely head.
Dressed like a cherry in his longjohns red --
Up there! Up where his Dief's asleep instead,
I could be loved and more, up there.

I wanna go! I wanna go up there! Ooooh!
I wanna go! I wanna go up there!

I want to go up there!
